Your questions,
answered
From the first sketch to the moment your dress arrives — every detail of how we work, what things cost, and what to expect along the way.
The sketch & consultation
What is included in the free sketch?
You receive an initial personal bridal sketch created from your complete brief and references, plus designer guidance on the direction of the gown. There is no checkout and no obligation to order.
What if I don't like the sketch?
We refine it together. The consultation includes back-and-forth until the design is exactly right: neckline, silhouette, train, back, sleeves. If after the design process you decide not to proceed, the sketch is yours to keep — there's no obligation to order.
Is the personal sketch really free?
Yes. Submit a complete brief and your strongest references, and a Lutien designer will create an initial personal sketch at no charge. There is no obligation to place a gown order.
What do I need to prepare before the consultation?
Anything that inspires you — photos, a Pinterest board, a silhouette you love, a fabric you remember. You don't need a clear vision; that's what we're here for.
Pricing & payment
How much does a dress cost?
Collection prices are shown on each gown page. Fully custom gowns start at €1,490 or US$1,890. The final price depends on the fabric, construction and decorative details and is confirmed before production begins.
What exactly is included in the price?
Everything agreed in your proposal: the sketch, design revisions before technical-sketch approval, the technical sketch, atelier production, agreed embellishment and final photography. Shipping, duties and taxes are handled according to the destination terms explained in your proposal.
Are there any hidden costs?
Your proposal clearly states what is included. No rush fee applies when your order is confirmed 6 months or more before your wedding. If your wedding is less than 6 months away, the rush fees are €500 at 5 months, €700 at 4 months, and €1,000 at 3 months. We do not accept orders with less than 3 months remaining. A mock-up may be recommended for a complex design or a disputed construction detail and will be included in your individual proposal. Design changes requested after technical-sketch approval start at €600.
When do I pay and how?
Orders up to €2,500 are paid in full at confirmation. Larger orders are split into 2–3 instalments agreed before production. We accept all major cards and bank transfers.
Design & fabric
Can I combine elements from different dresses?
Yes. The neckline from one, the back of another, a sleeve silhouette you saw elsewhere — we work from references constantly and synthesise them into something made for your body.
What fabrics do you work with?
Silk satin, silk chiffon, silk organza, crepe, mikado, tulle, lace inserts and structured bonded fabrics. Your designer proposes a curated shortlist based on your design and budget.
Can I add embroidery, beading or 3D florals?
Yes — hand embroidery, beading, sequins, 3D floral appliqué, lace inserts and feather trim are all options, discussed and priced during the consultation.
Timeline & production
How long does production take?
Production takes 10–12 weeks. For the most comfortable and unhurried process, we recommend ordering approximately 10 months before your wedding. No rush fee applies at 6 months or more. The rush fees are €500 at 5 months, €700 at 4 months, and €1,000 at 3 months. We do not accept orders with less than 3 months remaining.
How do I follow the production?
We send real photographs at each key milestone — fabric laid out, bodice assembled, gown nearing completion. You're never left waiting in silence.
Measurements & fit
Who should take my measurements?
Your measurements must be taken by a professional tailor or seamstress following our measurement guide. Self-measurements are not accepted.
What measurements do you need?
Always: bust, waist, hips and hollow to hem (measured in your wedding shoes). Some designs also need upper arm, wrist and back length. We send a detailed guide.
Shipping & delivery
Where do you ship?
Worldwide, from Ansignan, France via UPS. Shipping is included for US deliveries; other destinations are confirmed in your proposal — no surprise bill at the door.
How long does delivery take?
Typically 3–7 business days worldwide via express courier; European deliveries 2–4 days. Every package is fully tracked and insured.
After delivery
Can I return the dress?
No. Your dress is made exclusively for you to your exact measurements and design. This is why we invest so much in the approval process — you approve final photographs before it ships.
Can I order a second dress for the reception?
Absolutely. Many brides order a reception look alongside their ceremony gown. We can design a second look as part of the same conversation.
